2016 summer party at ELT

Last Friday we celebrated our traditional summer vermouth to welcome August in the best possible way.

Almost all colleagues met in the main hall of the ELT factory to hear the speeches of our Managing Director, José Miguel Laborda, and our President of board of directors, Francisco Artero.

Francisco Artero vermú verano 2016 ELT

The speeches spoke about the state of the lighting market. That we must keep rowing in the same direction and adapt ourselves to the exciting changes we will experience in the next years. Once the speeches ended, the next important act started: the recognition of the antiquity of colleagues and the recognition of those who made suggestions for improvement of the company.

This year Pablo Gracia  completed 20 years of dedication to ELT and Jesús Barrado 25. Both of them received their deserved award (as well as sharing later with all partners several anecdotes and experiences throughout all this time at the company).

The suggestions for improving production are really important to ELT and every year the people who make the best suggestions are awarded. In 2016, the winners were David Laguna and Miguel Litago (finalists with José Andrés Otal and Eduardo Villarte). The award is one of the most important aspects in ELT since it involves a personal involvement for product improvement and is necessary for all workers that become prescribers of continuous improvement and efficiency.

We congratulate all the colleagues for all these years of dedication to the company! It’s a luxury to have the experience of those who have seen the company grow and evolve during time and surely the knowledge will come in useful for the next years.

This year 2016 the company will be open in August, with reduced staff, to meet the needs of our customers.

See you in September! And now … here you can enjoy more pictures of the day.

Technology and Business Forum

This technology and business forum is an important framework for direct dialogue and exchange of knowledge and experiences between university researchers, technologists and innovative entrepreneurs. The Big Data appears as one of the key technologies in the upcoming years and next Wednesday, research and development trends will be shown at the forum. Also, different case studies will be presented as an example on how to start implementing this technology.

The volume of data generated, moved, stored and processed is increasing exponentially thanks to the globalisation of information technology and communications (ICT) and the ubiquity of social networks. The term Big Data refers to huge volumes of data which cannot be processed using standard technologies. You need to use new technologies and massive storage cloud to make an efficient use of them. These technologies will provide growth opportunities in the upcoming years for small and medium enterprises, and software development departments. Through Big Data concept, organisations will be able to equip themselves with intelligence and data-intensive applications.
